You will be required to (i) contribute to the pricing and rate quotation activity for EIB’s standard

and non-standard lending/guarantee products, (ii) support the Lending Directorate in all

procedural areas related to the successful closing of rate quotations and (iii) provide financial

advisory on newly developed lending/guarantee products.

Operating Network

You will report directly to the Head of Financial Engineering and Advisory Services Division, and

work in close collaboration with the other Division members and colleagues of the Treasury

Department, particularly the Asset and Liability Management desk. You will also interact on a

regular basis with “Back Office Lending”, as well as the Lending and the Transactions

Management and Restructuring Directorates. Contacts with Risk Management, Legal, Internal

Audit and IT will occur on a less frequent basis. The location of this position is in the dealing

room, and in an open-space working environment therefore, it is submitted to a specific Code of

Conduct and qualified as “sensitive”.


 Perform indicative and firm quotations of lending rates for all types of both standard and

non-standard lending products (including guarantee structures, re-structurings,

prepayments, rate revisions) in order to provide operational support to lending and restructuring


 Provide advisory to lending, disbursement and monitoring officers and to clients on the

products of the Bank, both for financial and procedural aspects.

 Contribute to the maintenance and the development of the front office system use to

channel and process the Bank’s pricing requests for all lending-related products of EIB

 Assist in the conceptual design and development of the “pricing engine” with a view to

create a best-in-class implementation, both in terms of pricing methodology and technical


 Contribute to the design and implementation of new financial products with OPS to meet

customer requirements

 Comment (potentially in the form of drafting “opinions”) on documents (“notes”) of other

Services concerning new initiatives for financial products, assessing impacts in terms of

procedures, work-flows and pricing/hedging policies.

 Liaise with other Services within the Bank, raising potential bottlenecks in the area of

responsibility (pricing, hedging risks, operational processing) and proposing solutions to

overcome them in order to support the safe expansion of the product palette offered by

the Bank.

 Represent the Financial Engineering and Advisory Services Division in committees and working groups of the Bank, as the case may be.

 Perform other ad-hoc activities in special initiatives and tasks related to the responsibilities of the Division.


 University degree, preferably in economics, finance or other related area.

 Post-graduate studies or professional qualifications such as ACT qualifications, PRMIA or GARP for (Treasury) Risk Management would be an advantage

 Minimum 5 years relevant professional experience in banking, preferably in (but not restricted to) a role akin to pricing in a trading room/treasury or in financial risk management

 Good understanding of key financial concepts (fixed vs. floating rate products, interest rate and cross-currency swaps, amortising products, yield curve modelling)

 Sound knowledge of financial markets, in particular swap markets and debt markets

 Familiarity with Bloomberg and/or Reuters

 Proficiency in computer applications: advanced skills in the use of Excel, including graphical functionalities, and sound usage of MS PowerPoint

 Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and good command of French (*). Knowledge of another language of the European Union would be an asset.

(*) There may be certain flexibility on this requirement, but limited to particularly suitable candidates who may not yet be proficient in French. If selected, such candidates will be hired on the condition that they build up rapidly knowledge of French and accept that their future career in the EIB may be subject to the attainment of sufficient proficiency in both of the Bank's working languages
