Our Glasgow hydrology and hydraulics team are currently involved in many interesting and innovative projects for local authorities, regulators, utilities and private companies. We are involved in several high profile national infrastructure projects and strategic planning for a range of clients. You will work within an established team on a variety of water resources and flood risk management projects for clients in Scotland and in the rest of the UK. We will consider applications from individuals with a broad understanding of hydrology/hydraulics. We work on a diverse range of projects, including, but not limited to: * Reservoir safety work; * Due diligence; * Water resources modelling and yield assessment; * Hydraulic modelling from conceptualisation, model build and calibration through to options assessment; * Hydrometric data management and review; * Climate change impact assessment; * Environmental Impact Assessment and water quality studies. Extensive flood study experience gained from working on a variety of Flood risk assessments (FRA) and asset resilience studies for clients ranging from small developers to large water companies will be important. You will be a skilled modeller with a strong grounding using software such as Floodmodeller/ISIS, TUFLOW and linked ISIS/TUFLOW flood modelling, used in conjunction with Flood estimation handbook (FEH) and other peak flow estimation methodologies. We are looking for a candidate with experience of some of the following: * Flood Forecasting - PDM modelling and experience of DELFT-FEWS; * Hydraulic Modelling - 1D-2D linked hydraulic modelling; including but not limited to TUFLOW (+ESTRY), Flood Modeller/ISIS; * GIS - flood modelling and mapping including ArcGIS, Mapinfo or QGIS; * Hydrology - FEH and equivalent UK hydrological approaches for flood analysis; * Water Resources - Aquator water resource modelling, HYSIM rainfall-runoff calculations, catchment / low flow hydrology; * Hydrometry. Essential requirements to be considered for the role: * MSc in hydrology, hydrogeology, or related subject; * Chartered (or working towards) with a relevant professional body; * Strong IT skills including experience with GIS software packages; * Ability to communicate and present to internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner, both written and verbally; * A consultative approach to dealing with colleagues; * Ability to analyse information and offer improved methodologies that provide efficiencies; * Positive 'can-do' attitude, to working with colleagues.
