We are looking to recruit a Senior Forensic Psychologist to join the Psychology team at HMP Lowdham Grange.
The Job Opportunity The primary purpose of this role is to provide high quality forensic risk assessments, interventions, formulations and treatment, contributing to the effective risk management of both determinate and indeterminate sentenced prisoners.
You will provide psychological advice and consultancy to other professionals and act as a “professional witness” in parole board hearings and multi-agency meetings.
Daily Duties Involve As a Senior Forensic Psychologist you will oversee the implementation of high intensity programmes, such as the new Kaizen programme, attend management meetings and provide designated support and supervision for the Chartered and Forensic Psychologists in Training working with the same prisoner population.
Delivering training on issues such as personality disorder, psychopathy or managing difficult behaviour will also form part of your role.
Maintaining awareness of current psychological knowledge and best practice in relation to risk assessment and intervention is key, whilst playing an active role in promoting and developing psychological services throughout the prison.
You will be responsible for taking an active role in promoting and developing psychological services throughout the prison and other Serco contracts.
What we are looking for in our candidates The successful candidate will have completed a Masters or Doctorate in Forensic Psychology leading to Chartered Status with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
You will also evidence sufficient post registration / chartership experience of working as a Forensic Psychologist in a custodial environment, rehabilitation or secure setting.
It is also essential to be on the Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS).
The ability to complete the administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological risk assessments such as; WAIS IV, HCR-20, PCL-R, IPDE and SARA is also a key requirement.
You will be a confident communicator and skilled report writer when presenting evidence in formal settings such as Oral Hearings.
This post will suit someone who enjoys direct psychological contact, working alongside prisoners who present with a range of complex needs, including mental illness, personality disorders, cognitive deficits, self-harming behaviours and significant offending histories.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office.
About us Serco manage, HMP Lowdham Grange in Nottinghamshire, a long term Category B prison housing over 900 adult male prisoners.
