Senior Business Developer - BioInnovation Institute, Novo Nordisk Foundation    

The BioInnovation Institute (BII) - a Novo Nordisk Foundation initiative - is looking for a new colleague, who is passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship, to join the team.   Recently founded, the BII promotes collaborative, interdisciplinary, research-based innovation in the Life Sciences, and help build viable start-up companies to ensure that such innovations become widely available for the benefit of human welfare and society.   BII is now setting up a vibrant, collaborative workspace in Copenhagen bringing together entrepreneurial researchers and company creators from different disciplines. For the first three years of operation, BII has been granted DKK 392 million by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. During this implementation phase, BII will be a department within the Novo Nordisk Foundation.   The Senior Business Developer will initiate and support the commercial development of projects within the BII department and will be instrumental in and drive the development and execution of the BII acceleration program.    

The Job 

In close collaboration with the BII team colleagues, the Senior Business Developer will:   

  • Drive business development efforts for the projects at BII  
  • Provide expert service and guidance on structure, content and direction regarding business development for the projects at BII  
  • Design, develop and execute on an acceleration program for projects enabling building of commercial start-ups  
  • Screen, engage and evaluate new and interesting projects for the acceleration program and for start-ups to be included in the incubator Build strong internal and external relationships  
  • Maintain continuous interactions with Universities, Hospitals and industry as well as relevant institutions and incubators in Denmark and internationally  
  • Enable projects and start-ups to connect with relevant outside collaborators, potential partners and/or funders  

Professional Qualifications 

We are looking for a team member with:   

  • MSc or PhD within Business, Bioscience, Medical Sciences, Engineering or similar  
  • 10+ years of experience, with 5+ years within entrepreneurship and commercialisation processes within biomedicine, medical technology or biotechnology  
  • Demonstrated experience with early stage projects and start-ups within Pharma and/or Medtech  
  • Excellent insight, knowledge, and network into the Danish and international innovation eco-system of the life sciences  
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory processes and environment within the Life Science Industry  
  • Strong eye for combining different academic disciplines into new promising business opportunities within Life Sciences Science  
  • Broad and comprehensive insight into early innovation  
  • Experience in identifying, managing and commercialising innovations
