The Digital Technology & Innovations unit initiated a cross-company platform for data acquisition and analysis to drive the digitalization across all businesses and establish scalable, real-time capabilities, required to keep up with the rapidly changing energy markets. With a high commitment and pace we demonstrated the added value for business and received the mandate to expand our activities further. Our interdisciplinary and highly skilled group of data scientists, SW engineers, quantitative analysts und business developers is implementing the rich pipeline of integrated real-time and automated applications for tomorrow’s energy markets. In parallel to developing the project-based solutions we are further driving the setup of Alpiq’s technology framework and new business models that will position Alpiq as frontrunner in the digital energy markets. Shape the future with us! Your function The QA-ML position is to aid and lead the development of forecasting models for a wide set of applications, mainly for short term high frequency business. Data is typically characterized by low quality and small sets, and therefore knowledge of statistics will be as important as that of machine learning. While focus is to a large extent on Machine Learning development, some work will be in the daily running of the business, like model calibrations and user support. A close collaboration with the other members of the team is expected, both in knowledge sharing an joint development. Your profile You have a solid education in mathematics/physics, and educational or working experience of machine learning applications and development. A strong team player attitude with problem solving mind-set and distinct ability for analysis is required, but also: PhD in quantitative field or Computer Science Solid understanding of statistics Experience from modelling and prediction based on small data sets / time series Some experience of banking/trading is a plus Comfortable in working within Matlab, Python, TensorFlow, etc. Language: fluent in English, German and French beneficial
