Descripción de la oferta de trabajo:
DTU Management Engineering is offering a PhD scholarship to explore the potentials of gaze interaction for people with severe motor disabilities. The PhD student will be attached to the division of Technology and Innovation management. The division is organised within three research groups: Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship; Industrial Dynamics and Strategy; and Human Factors. The PhD student will be affiliated with the last group, and the research will be carried out in collaboration with The Copenhagen Center for Health Technology (Cachet). The scholarship is co-funded by the Bevica foundation. Responsibilities and tasks The objective of the scholarship is to develop and test new interaction methods that take advantage of gaze input – as a mono-modal input or in combination with e.g. voice commands, head movements or hand gestures. The interaction will address daily needs of people with motor challenges, e.g. cerebral palsy, repetitive strain injury or locked-in conditions in late-stage ALS. The main focus will be on type-to-speak communication; control of wheelchair and robots with gaze; and control of smart home devices. Theoretically, the project will be grounded in engineering psychology and design theory. Empirically, the project will have particular emphasis on co-creation with users and iterative testing of prototypes. Qualifications Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering, computer science or psychology. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.
