Applications are invited for the following Post in the Technological University Dublin:

Post: Post-Doctoral Researcher - Energy, Health, Comfort, & Occupancy Modelling Project (Fixed-Term Specified Purpose Wholetime for up to 5 years initial funding in place for 2 years) Reference: 387/2023

Location:  Currently located in TU Dublin, Grangegorman, Dublin 7.      

Hours of Work: A 37 hour working week is in operation.

Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed at point (01) of the of the Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale i.e. €45,322 gross per annum.

Closing Date: 20th March 2024 at 5.00 p.m. (Irish time). Late applications will not be accepted.

It is anticipated that interviews for this post will take place week beginning 15th April 2024. The interview assessment will be 60 minutes in length and will include a presentation of 6 minutes duration. The topic of this presentation will be as follows:

“Present your approach to developing energy, health, comfort, and occupancy models and integrate those into digital twins. Please include a plan which allows ICT data services such as timetabling, WiFi access points, and BMS data to be connected to models and performance evaluations.”

Role Overview

The Post-Doctoral researcher in Energy, Comfort, & Occupancy Modelling, funded by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) Performance Funding project titled “Towards a Sustainable University Campus”, will play a key role in establishing the physical and digital transformation pathway of TU Dublin’s building stock which will provide operational intelligence, optimisation, reporting, data and impact visualisation to multiple stakeholders in a Living Lab environment. Reporting to the Project Manager Sustainable Building Information Systems and the Building Information Modelling (BIM) & Integration Lead Educator, and working as a member of the wider Sustainability Team in close collaboration with Campus & Estates, the Post-Doctoral researcher in Energy, Comfort, & Occupancy Modelling has responsibility for leading the modelling and prediction work package and participating in the exploitation, dissemination and communication of the project outputs to experts and non-experts. The project will consolidate data collections, analysis, reporting, and decarbonisation strategies to progress towards University and National objectives:

•    National Climate Action Plan (NCAP) targets to achieve 51% CO2 emission reduction by 2030 compared to 2018, and improve our operational energy efficiency by 50%.

•    National Development Plan by 1) Advancing the Green Transitioning, 2) Accelerating and expanding digital reforms and transformation.

•    National Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
