Locum SHO Oncology – Deanery Vacancy An exciting opportunity has arisen for an SHO to join our Oncology team based at thSt Luke’s Cancer Centre, Royal Surrey County Hospital. This is for two posts, both offered on a fixed-term basis for one year commencing August 2017 and terminating in July 2018 in-line with deanery rotations. Applications will be considered for four, eight and 12 months respectively, in-line with deanery rotations. This role would be a great opportunity for someone wishing to pursue a general medical or oncological career, providing ample opportunity to develop their clinical skills. The department of Oncology has excellent academic links with the University of Surrey and holds regular educational half days and weekly teaching sessions. For those wishing to develop their clinical governance, the department has a strong research and audit focus. The successful applicant will be part of a busy Oncology Department, and will be required to work as part of a team of 8 Senior House Officers, including providing cover for annual leave and study leave and being part of an on-call rota. Whilst on-call the post holder will be working with the Acute Oncology team clerking emergency oncological admissions working closely with A&E and EAU. The post will suit SHO level doctors who wish to gain comprehensive training in ward management of patients undergoing cancer treatments. You will be expected to share daily care for patients receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy under the care of all the oncologists and clinical haematologists. St Luke’s Cancer Centre is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, a modern acute hospital in the heart of Surrey, with easy access to the M25 and the mainline train station to London and the West.
