Are you positive and creative? Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them learn new skills which showcase their talents? No experience needed! MacIntyre is a award winning national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. Our core belief is that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community. We are looking for a full-time Learning Support Worker to join the team at our Lifelong Learning Centre in Kennington, Oxford. You will be working 38 hours per week, mostly Monday to Friday 9am - 4.30pm, but some evening and weekend work will be required which is decided through a rota system. At this service we support a total of 47 people, ages ranging from 18 to 65 years old, who have a range of learning disabilities. About the role The people we support have a range of interests which you will be supporting, as well as helping them learn new skills. Activities include: work experience (e.g. working in a café, charity shop, or on a farm); accessing the community and various social/leisure facilities; You will also be supporting people at our Learning Centre in Kennington with hobbies such as cooking, arts and crafts, computer work; as well as supporting people in their own home with domestic tasks such as cooking and cleaning. Of the 47 people we support, a few need assistance with personal care and there may occasionally be challenging behaviour, for which you'll be given full training. What we need from you You may have worked as a care assistant or similar, but experience is not essential, as we provide a full induction and free training programme, so this role is suitable for a trainee. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach and are willing to learn. It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive service vehicles. It would also be desirable if you had your own vehicle insured for business usage.
