KTP Associate (Project Engineer for WH Tildesley in Forging Techniques)

Contrato de Profesionales científicos e intelectuales en Reino Unido

Clasificación del trabajo: Profesionales científicos e intelectuales.

Descripción de la oferta de trabajo:

Full time, fixed term contract for 28 months.

This is an exciting new opportunity for a graduate to participate in an Innovate UK funded KTP project involving WMG at the University of Warwick and WH Tildesley.

WH Tildesley is a leader in the forging of difficult to manufacture components.

The main aim of the KTP is to lead the feasibility and eventual implementation of a novel forging technique, called near solidus forging, into the business.

To achieve this not only requires understanding of the metallurgical phenomina underpinning the technique but also to establish the limitation of the current capabilities.

Therefore time will also be spent on scoping of new equipment, processes and process criteria, including digitisation and modelling.

In addition to this, a thorough understanding behind the fundamentals that govern forging (e.g. recrystallisation and grain growth) will also need to be embedded in the company to help drive down turn over times, and to give better confidence in the capabilities of the forging equipment.

This is a great opportunity for a mechnical engineer with experience in design, materials and manufacturing systems, to acquire an advanced level of skills in industrial manufacturing and assembly systems with support from university experts.

Primarily based in Willenhall (near Wolverhampton), but with the opportunity for some travel in Europe, you will be working as part of a collaborative research project, and must work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team which includes factory personnel.

You should be able to take responsibility and have the confidence and ability to embed the new knowledge to the team through training, paired working and via a number of other methods.

Interest in novel technologies, innovative engineering approaches and a solid engineering background & culture would be highly valuable as well as the ability to plan the project and successfully deliver a final solution.

WH Tildesley Ltd has previously had a very successful 3 year KTP Project focusing on metallurgy.

This ended with the highest grade of “Outstanding” awarded by the KTP Grading Panel.

The candidate will therefore benefit from a management team who are tried and tested in KTP methodology, and a culture of continuous improvement and continual learning throughout the business.

WH Tildesley Ltd are committed to investing in skills for the future and have recognised the skills gap within the engineering industry.

Currently there are over 20% of the workforce in further education, apprentice schemes and personal development programmes to add to the skills base and ensure longevity of the business, and to protect and enhance the undoubted technical manufacturing niche the business has.
