A brand-new opportunity has arisen for a Director of Community Services and Online Marketplace to join a charitable Social Care organisation based in Manchester who support vulnerable individuals living with visual impairments and a range of other disabilities.
This role will have 2 parts: developing the online marketplace concept and the management of the community services.
The overall objective of the online marketplace and the community services are to; support people living with visual impairments and other disabilities, while reducing isolation and increasing independence.
Details of the role: • Based in Manchester, with flexible working options available • Salary - £50,000p/a • 35 hours per week • Entitlement to 30 days holiday, plus 10 statutory holiday days The 2 parts… Developing the online marketplace concept You will be leading the development of an exciting new concept for an online marketplace that is both a knowledge hub and an ecommerce site.
This new digital platform will contain content, training resources, a learning management system, and will offer products to buy, or to support individuals living with visual impairments.
This marketplace, once developed, will be used internally as a centre point for the running of this organisation.
It will then also be taken to market and the products sold to other charities, individuals and commercially.
It will be used as a tool inside and outside of the Social Care sector to provide key information about accessibility for people living with visual impairments and disabilities.
The platform is currently in its infancy and it will be your job to work with internal and external stakeholders to take this forward by building the brand and establishing the marketplace.
It has a huge potential to be developed and taken to market not only nationally, but globally.
Management of the community services You will be leading and overseeing the community services based in Manchester which provides local community groups, telephone support and tools for individuals with visual impairments.
You will co-ordinate and develop the community services through internal and external research, evidence and impact measures to ensure the services support the community.
You will need to be able to strike up future partnerships confidently, see how the Manchester devolution model may impact this and understand where the new revenue development opportunities may lie to evolve a diverse income matrix.
You will need to create alliances between individuals being supported, the professionals and carer/wider support network, as well as improving the reach and impact these community services have.
Required skills, knowledge and experience: • An understanding of the needs of clients living with visual impairments and/or other disabilities • Have experience working within a social care organisation previously • An understanding of the devolution model in Manchester • Prior experience of effective multi-agency partnership working • Financial acumen and previous success in managing and negotiating commercial contracts and commission rates • Be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject • Have a proven ability to formulate local regional and national service strategies • The ability to build effective working relationships between a wide range of professionals and stakeholders • The ability to network and have the confidence to take a new product to market Specialist attributes: • You will have excellent strategic skills • You are someone who will see something through to the very end • You are autonomous in the way you work • You have a positive and resilient character If this position is of interest to you, or perhaps to someone in your network, we would love to hear from you.
