ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of homelessness legislation and CLG guidance for homelessness prevention and Enhanced Housing Options agenda. Knowledge of welfare and housing benefit payments and entitlements including knowledge of resolution of benefits enquiry such as (but not exclusively) back dated claims, new claims, income maximisation and discretionary payments. Ability to use a range of IT software packages and unthusiasm to maximise the use of new IT system to produce analysis and improve outcomes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This position is Politically Restricted. Fixed Term for up to two years Starting salary is £24,174 rising to £25,951 on first year anniversary, subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period. Daily activities: To develop relationships with the private rented sector and Housing Aid, facilitaing increased take up of private sector options by those in housing need. Identify and liaise with the most influential private landlords within the city, and work with them to develop action plans to prevent debt esclation and eviction and support tenancy sustainment. Develop systems of direct referrals for tenancy support from the private rented sector. Support the scoping and review of existing private rented sector initiatives with a view to improving efficiency and engagement of responses to the private sector customers of Housing Aid and Nottingham City Council. Develop and improve systems for contact and communications with all welfare benefits agencies including Housing Benefits section to assist with accelerated resolution of all claims impacting upon a person and resolution of debt including, backdated claims, new claims, and payments of discretionary payments. Establish procedures for early notification and response to tenants facing eviction through rent arrears or debt across all tenures and establish action plans for responding to this trigger information To liaise with Nottingham City Homes (NCH) Home Link Team to establish a programme for home visits and support focusing on those registered for housing living with family and friends with a view of improving the offer of housing options including the private sector. Liaise with Environmental Services to support and encourage development and growth of the Landlord Accreditation Secheme ensuring an outcome of an improved offer of private housing to Housing Aid's customers. Develop a Tenant's passport scheme model linked to private rented sector that will work alongside the existing Bond/Guarantee sheme and developing supported bond schene. Establish monitoring and reporting systems to record all the previously mentioned preventative work undertaken as a result of new initiatives within the EHO including those contributing to the DCLG performance indicators. Ensure staff at Housing have access to good quality information about current housing advice and prevention initiatives. To produce a toolkit for staff that supports this work and ensure a follow through with customers in need. To provide training, support and advice to all staff within Housing Aid as appropriate. Review all current information available about Housing Aid (and complimentary) services private sector initiatives and make recommendations for improving the current, quality, quantity and access to this information.
