We have a very exciting opportunity for you to come and work within the Memory Services in Buckinghamshire. This post will provide the ideal role for a candidate with the skills, knowledge and experience of working with people who have memory problems or dementia whilst giving you the opportunity to specialise, advance your knowledge and develop your leadership skills. Our Older Adults Community Mental Health Team provides a range of services including Memory Clinics, Assessment &Crisis Intervention, enhanced duty response plus step up/step down care and care co-ordination. Our Memory Services have been accredited as part of a national accreditation programme in conjunction with the Royal College of Psychiatry. We are currently taking part in the reaccreditation programme and the Dementia Nurse Specialist will be actively involved in that process. We operate an innovative model of assessment for our clinics with the aim of providing timely assessment and diagnosis following the first appointment and clinics closer to the person’s home. You will be expected to carry out highly skilled and often complex assessments and interventions whilst supporting the process of diagnosis. Therefore, the successful candidate will need to be a highly motivated practitioner who has advanced knowledge, expertise, and experience of mental health services with the ability to initiate and manage their own work effectively. You will be joining a service which is well established, motivated and supportive where your contribution would be highly important and valued. You will be able to play a significant role in helping to continue the development of the service model. The successful candidate will perform a key clinical leadership role across two highly motivated, supportive and cohesive Multi-Disciplinary Memory Services As Clinical Lead you will provide supervision to a number of Band 4, 5 and 6 clinicians and you will be expected to support the Team Manager with senior oversight of the team, audits and service development as well as taking on a lead role for specific processes e.g. Safeguarding, training and practice development. You will also be expected to periodically work as part of the manager’s duty rota across all of Bucks Mental Health Services out of hours. Regular supervision will be provided and you will be encouraged to undertake any training relevant to your professional and personal development. There will be opportunities for you to gain management and leadership training. In-house training would be offered to help and support you along your career path. You will also work closely with our HR mentor and be supported closely by your colleagues, line manager and Head of Service. Do you have excellent skills in working with older people and people with mental health problems? Do you have excellent and highly specialised skills in working with our client group, including current Nurse Prescriber registration? Are you an enthusiastic and resourceful person who is able to work independently and with initiative? Are you able to motivate yourself, your colleagues and your clients? Are you able to establish effective working relationships with other professionals across organisations? Are you familiar with current legislation, guidelines and processes that affect the way in which mental health care is delivered?
