About Downing College and the Conference Services team Founded in 1800, Downing College in the University of Cambridge has a unique and magnificent setting among twenty acres of lawns and trees, yet is located close to the centre of Cambridge. The open landscape has a superb collection of neo-classical buildings from the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries. In practical terms those living and working in Downing enjoy a beautiful environment unique in Cambridge in its spaciousness. Set within this expansive and beautiful landscape, Downing provides clients with a variety of superior conference, meeting and theatre facilities. These range from small boardroom set ups in one of our traditional meeting rooms to larger theatre style layouts in both the Howard Theatre and the Howard Building Lecture Room, which are fitted with a full range of state of the art AV and presentation equipment. The restoration work on our Dining Hall was awarded a prestigious RIBA award in 2010. The Conference Support Facilities and Theatre Assistant is part of Downing’s busy and dedicated Conference Support Team. This team is responsible for ensuring that the College’s facilities and technical equipment are set up to meet the diverse requirements of our customers. The team is led by the Howard Theatre & Conference Support Manager and is composed of the Conference Support Co-ordinator and the Conference Support and Theatre Assistant. Details of the role The Conference Support and Theatre Assistant is a full-time, permanent post primarily responsible for working with the Conference Support Co-ordinator to provide general conference support and facilities preparation. The role is offered on a 5 out of 7 working day basis for 37.5 hours per week, and will include some evening and weekend work. The annual salary is up to £20,894 per annum (Step 26 on the College Salary Scale).
