At OutSystems (Contractor), in Lisbon, Portugal

Expires at: 2020-10-01

- Monitor the Cloud platform to assure its stability and that the agreed service levels are met by spotting trends that may indicate service degradation, and following-up closely with the appropriate team(s) for continuous improvement; 

- Actively contribute to the definition, automation, maintenance and fine-tuning of metrics, thresholds and alerts over the Cloud;

- Handle, enrich and correlate events to understand the impact on the service, being it degradation or disruption;

- Be a part of Incident and Problem Management, triaging, logging, and working closely with the appropriate responder groups to assure appropriate resolution.

Location: Linda-a-Velha (Lisbon)

Main requirements

- Prefered degree (BSc, MSc) in technology-related fields: Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Network, or any other related areas; 

- Fluent in English;

- Willing to work shifts and on-call;

- 1/2+ years experience in both technology and customer-facing roles is a plus (e.g. Event Management Engineering, Software Engineering, Technical Support, IT Consultancy).

Skillset

- The skillset of the Cloud Service Reliability Engineer is defined using three vectors: 1. Behavioral - Necessary soft skills, 2. ITSM - ITSM Processes, Problem-solving, Critical-Thinking, 3. Technical - Technical knowledge relevant for this role;

-  These vectors help determine the traits expected in a Cloud Service Reliability Engineer and the skill set in which they will grow throughout their career.

 

ITSM

- Knowledge of the ITSM lifecycle and processes; 

- Knowledge of ITSM or ticketing systems;

- Knowledge of Monitoring and Event Management Systems is a plus;

- Business document writing, editing and management;

- Process Oriented - Is organized and able to properly follow defined processes, whilst being able to properly challenge inefficient processes and suggest improvements;

- Troubleshooting Mindset / Mitigation - Approaches problems with a mitigation-first mindset working towards minimizing the impact for customers but collecting any necessary information for later analysis. Problem-solving - Has a top-down approach to problems, breaking them in smaller pieces and solving them by starting with a wider scope and narrowing it down as the analysis progresses. Has critical thinking, so is able to analyze information objectively and make a reasoned judgment.

 

Technical

- Infrastructure Monitoring - awareness on how to monitor systems for performance and availability issues;

- Cloud Technology - familiar with cloud computing paradigms and technologies - Knowledge on AWS Cloud is a plus;

- Performance and Availability - awareness of what performance and availability issues are, how they impact the ability to deliver service and how to tackle them;

- Application Development - awareness of the high-level application development lifecycle.

- Knowledge in object oriented programming;

- Familiarity with the following software architectural styles: REST, SOAP and React;

-  DB - awareness of Databases from both the administration and development point of views.

- Database engines: SQL Server and Oracle;

-  Network - Knowledge on networks and protocols

- Communication - Able to communicate effectively (in English) both orally and written showing empathy for the other person;

- Humbleness - Accepts mistakes and acts accordingly with a humble attitude, apologizing for it and mitigating it ASAP in order to avoid higher impact;

- Accountability - Takes ownership of problems and makes sure to see them through. Even if he does not have all the necessary knowledge to move on alone, he is able to involve the right people in order to reach closure;
