Annual salary: £8,320 (£19,500 pro rata) Hours per week: 16 Our Chef role involves: * Being an active member of the highly skilled catering, housekeeping and maintenance team, responsible for the fulfilment of the dietary requirements and ancillary support of 46 patients and staff within a hospital setting. * Assisting in the preparation of requisitions for each day’s menu. * The preparation and cooking of food to the required standard and in accordance with departmental recipes and methods. * The presentation of cooked, chilled and frozen dishes for patients, staff and visitors, food services to the standard set by the Catering Department. * The preparation, cooking (if required) and presentation of food for all modified diets. * The preparation, cooking and presentation of food for special functions. * The instruction and training of other grades of kitchen staff, on kitchen procedures and use of equipment. * The observance of safe working practices. * Ensuring stock control and rotation of all products to reduce waste. * Completing temperature audits, cleaning and mechanical audit as required. * Being responsible for kitchen opening and close-down procedure. * Giving training, when required, in use of all electrical and mechanical equipment to a proficient level to all grades of kitchen staff. * Ensuring all products and materials transported to and from the Catering department, are stacked and stored in line with Department procedures. * Ensuring, by observance and training, that the wearing of clean uniforms are adhered to at all times, and the necessary protective clothing. * Ensuring the guidelines for all jobs and all areas are known, under stood and practiced. * Adhering to and abiding by all Elysium Healthcare’s, Health and Safety and Food Hygiene-Food safety legislation, in relation to all areas in the provision of meals service. * Carrying out any reasonable request from the Hospitality Services Manager.
