CESR Rotational Post in Emergency Medicine on 12-24 month extendable contract.

We are advertising physician-specific CESR rotations based at Kingston Hospital.

The post is intended to provide the clinician with the support and training required to successfully complete all aspects of the CESR process.

It will be possible to provide specific three-month secondment-style modules to address relevant educational and competency needs.

Secondments include Anaesthesia, ITU, Acute Medicine and Children’s Emergency Medicine.

Suitably experienced candidates will also be considered that wish to bridge any competency gaps prior to applying for formal higher specialist training.

Our department is renowned for its training and support.

The Consultant body has current MRCEM and FRCEM examiners as well as experience at the CESR application process.

There will be a specifically-designed training and teaching package for all successful applicants and there will be a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of the rotation.

Consultant shop-floor support is provided 16 hours per day, seven days per week.

Middle grade teaching has been recently revamped to include a protected full half day teaching every 2 weeks.

The half day teaching consists of simulation sessions, workshops, formal lectures and examination practice to cover all elements of the FRCEM curriculum/examination.

From a clinical perspective, these posts will participate in the 24-hour Emergency Department rota.

You will play an integral role in provision of quality clinical care within our Emergency Department.

This will include assessing and managing critically ill patients in Resus, performing ward rounds in CDU and assessing patients in Majors.

The rotation is initially offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months after which we would envisage extension on a mutually agreed basis.

Basic salary with be in accordance with NHS pay scales £30,605 to £48,123 per annum, plus 1A 50 intensity banding dependent on the Rota worked and additional London weighting.

An additional 10 of basic salary Recruitment and Retention Premia will be offered for individuals who complete a full year of service payable as a lump sum at the end of the year.

You will also be provided with study leave and a study budget of £900 or pro-rata payable in £300 increments every 4 months.

Kingston Hospital is a high performing and clinically led acute hospital providing healthcare to around 350,000 people in South West London and North West Surrey.

Our Emergency Department cares for around 105,000 patients every year.

We are now looking for Junior Clinical Fellows to join our expanding team.

Our department has recently attained the best outcome in South London in the GMC Trainee Survey.

The department has recently been expanded to include an extension of its Majors and Resus area as well as a co-located Urgent Treatment Centre to allow for improved patient flow and experience.

The department also has a modern, 6-bedded Clinical Decisions Unit CDU that opened in November 2016.

The service has received a significant investment in its workforce model for 2017/18 with 3.5 WTE clinical matrons, Band 6 nurses, a resuscitation team that includes paramedics and significant boost to the SAS and junior doctor ranks in anticipation of any increases in activity.
