Career Preparation / Work Experience Instructor. South-East

Carlow Youth Training (CYT) is a Community Training Centre (CTC) which, in association with Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB), provides vocational, educational and life skills training through a learner centred approach to early school leavers (16-21 years). Our courses are designed to enable the learner to reach their full potential at their own pace. Our learners are supported to achieve new skills as well as the certification necessary for progression into employment, further training or continued education. The role of CTC Instructor responds to learner needs through the provision of flexible training options, which ultimately supports their move into the workplace, or further learning environments.

The Board of CYT invites applications from enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals for the part time (21 hours weekly) position of:

Career Preparation / Work Experience Instructor

Applicants should have:

A recognised degree/diploma in Training & Education/Vocational qualification (level 7) in Education or a related field.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with young people in an education - training-youth work field.

The ability to integrate IT based learning, literacy development and other pedagogical skills and approaches.

A proven track record of delivering learner certification of QQI levels and modules and an awareness of  QQI and the NFQ for CTC’s.

A learner focused approach to training and an ability to motivate and guide participants.

The ability to work effectively and communicate with CYT staff, learners, external partners and other agencies to support learner pathways through linked Work Experience.

A full clean drivers licence.

Desirable:

Train the Trainer qualification at QQI level 6.

A keen awareness of diversity in the workplace.

Experience of advocating for learners presenting with a broad range of needs.

A working knowledge of key state agencies who work with early school leavers.

The salary scale for this position is €19,950.84 to €35,599.20, with two LSI included. Starting point may apply. All appointments are subject to Garda vetting and receipt of satisfactory references. Late applications will not be considered and shortlisting may apply.
