This specialist advice helps clients manage and develop interactions with institutional investors and shareholders to build positive, long-term relationships that support the clients’ strategic goals. The team provides investor relations advice, on a day-to-day basis, covering key issues including; communication of strategy, governance issues, investor targeting and roadshows, capital structure and transactions. Applicants should expect to work across all sectors as the situation demands. The team is predominately based in Canary Wharf with the majority of clients located in London, some travel may be required. The role will involve working across a range of assignment types, as highlighted above, and applicants should be ready to work in dynamic, flexible and fast moving environments.
The Role KPMG Makinson Cowell is seeking Assistant Managers to support its client service capability. Based in London, the successful candidates will be required to undertake the following responsibilities: Advising on equity market actions and their communications - Helping clients with investment case formulation and communication of financial performance. - Reviewing market announcements and financial data prior to release, contributing to advice on messaging and likely questions from investors and sell-side analysts - Optimising investor relations programmes through shareholder register analysis to ensure a company covers its existing shareholders, and utilising proprietary data to suggest suitable non-holders for targeting principally in the UK, North America and Europe - Commenting on dividend policy and the timing of, and investor appetite for, capital returns, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate actions - Real-time tracking of developments across a client’s peer group, its sector and wider market - Supporting companies on corporate governance best practice and AGM voting - Contributing to training sessions for clients to develop their knowledge on the role of investor relations and any pertinent regulatory or market developments Analysing companies’ standing with institutional investors through the conducting of periodic or standalone Investor Studies - Working alongside the in-house financial research team to provide quantitative performance and valuation analysis - Working alongside the in-house market research team to conduct institutional interviews and compile qualitative analysis - Working alongside the in-house register analysis team to identify key trends in institutional ownership and coverage of the investor base through the investor relations programme - Combining quantitative and qualitative analysis to draw out key themes and trends, divergence between market and client perceptions, and issues requiring remedial action - Documenting the findings of studies in detailed written reports for the client’s Board, IR team and other key internal stakeholders.
Contributing to Makinson Cowell’s origination efforts - Supporting the targeting and pursuit of potential clients,; regularly briefing the wider team on progress and next steps - Raising the profile of Makinson Cowell internally within KPMG by providing briefings to Partners, CSTs and sales teams as appropriate - Developing an external network through attending Makinson Cowell and third-party organised events, which can be leveraged to win new business and raise our profile further Developing the knowledge and skills of others on the team - Provide briefings to other members of the KPMG Makinson Cowell team - Mentoring junior members of the client service team - Contributing to knowledge management ef
