The Purpose of the Role

The School seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor to teach and supervise in Theology in the Catholic Tradition. The post is based in the School of Religion, Theology, and Peace Studies and is affiliated with the Loyola Institute on the campus of Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin. The Loyola Institute specialises in research and education in theology in the Catholic tradition. The candidate will contribute to the School’s Undergraduate and Postgraduate taught courses in Theology, in areas such as Classic Theological Texts, Theological Anthropology, Christology, and Doctrine of God. The appointed person will also fully contribute to the activities of the School and the Loyola Institute and further contribute to the mission of the Loyola Institute.  They will be available to supervise MPhil dissertations, and to participate across the range of School activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential to contribute research publications of international significance to the fields of theology in the Catholic tradition. They will play a role in continuing and expanding links within College.

The role-holder will require the following knowledge, skills and attributes for successful performance in the role.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

    A completed doctorate in Theology in the Catholic Tradition (essential)

    Evidence of effective teaching, and teaching-related activities at third level (essential)

    An awareness of different paradigms of theological thinking (essential)
