This is an opportunity for a young person or school leaver seeking a career in the meat industry. You will be enrolled on a Two year apprenticeship scheme. Qualifying to a level 2 NVQ and the equivalent of a GCSE in Maths and English. All training will be done in house with an assessor providing support and regular visits. After the apprentice has qualified they will be offered a full time position. You will be expected to work in a family run butchers as part of a small team. Main duties will include all aspects of butchery to include, boneing packing and wrapping of meat for processing of orders, Intake of goods from deliveries. Heavy lifting involved. General cleaning. Some deliveries. Managing the stock rotation and maintaining high levels of hygiene in the work area.Some experience in food preparation an advantage but full training will be given. Minimum 39 hours per week, although you will will be expected to work longer hours when required. The working week will be spread from Monday to Saturday with a 6am start. All applicants must be prepared to work Saturdays. Pay will be on a weekly basis and will be above the apprenticeship rates.
