The UKCRC-registered Centre for Trials Research at Cardiff University is the largest group of academic clinical trials staff in Wales. The Centre tackles the big diseases and health concerns of our time, including growing resistance to antibiotics, early cancer diagnosis and how to eliminate health inequalities. It achieves this by forming partnerships with researchers and building lasting relationships with the public, whose participation is essential for the success of studies. The Centre also hosts the Research Design and Conduct Service South East Wales. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Physiotherapist to join the Centre as a Research Associate/ Assistant contributing to the delivery of a portfolio of clinical trials and research studies. The post would suit an experienced qualified Physiotherapist, who wishes to develop or enhance their research skills. Knowledge of clinical research and the ability to implement clinical study protocols is essential. The post will require involvement in the set-up of clinical trials and other research studies, including: the process of informed consent and provision of information to patients, service users and carers considering entry into specific research studies; physical activity interventions; data collection and qualitative interviewing. The post holder will be working on studies involving participants across our thematic working groups, which will include adults with Multiple Sclerosis in a physical activity study in the first instance. The post holder should also be familiar with the principles of ethical conduct in research. This position would suit a self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team. This post is full time (35 hours a week), available from 01/01/18 and is open-ended. Flexible working hours and job share will be considered. Appointment will be made to either grade 5 or 6 dependent on skills and experience.
