Internal Applicants only Applications are invited from suitable staff for the post of Transfusion Practitioner to help ensure regulatory compliance with Blood Safety legislation and best transfusion practice across the Trust. Main roles would be: Ensure compliance with the objectives outlined in Better Blood Transfusion II HSC 2002/009, Better Blood Transfusion 3 BBT3, NICE guidelines on Blood Transfusion and the Blood Quality and Safety Regulations. To work as part of the Hospital Transfusion Team to promote the safe effective and efficient use of blood and blood products and promote effective patient blood management. Ensure assessment of the requirements of the users of the blood transfusion service and help implement service driven changes accordingly Help ensure the provision of an effective and efficient service, and to contribute to staff training and development in the practice of transfusion medicine. The post holder will ensure that the systems for error logging and subsequent error resolution are maintained and aid in the management of internal and external quality control issues. The post holder will be required to be HCPC registered scientist or Registered first level nurse or midwife, with a Hons degree. They will be expected to maintain their professional registration and an up to date knowledge of their specialist area through continual professional development. The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their approach to working hours, changing their work patterns to meet ensure the delivery of the project as required. There may be a requirement to work evening or weekend sessions on occasion and they will be expected to work across both sites.
