Nonwovens Innovation & Research Institute Ltd. 169 Meanwood Road Leeds - West Yorkshire - LS7 1SR   Job Title: Technical Textile Consultant/Engineer Responsible to: Dr. Matthew Tipper Reports to: Dr. Vera Chetty Closing Date: 14th August 2017 You will be responsible for assisting in a programme of scientific research involving the development of new nonwoven textile media. You will be responsible for ensuring that technical milestones and deliverables are met according to the technical work-plan, liaising with the external sponsor, organising technical progress meetings and the design and development of new prototype filter media. You will be qualified to PhD level (or be close to obtaining a PhD), or equivalent, preferably in the area of textile science and technology and have a BSc in textile technology, materials science or a related engineering discipline. The Company The Nonwovens Innovation and Research Institute Ltd (NIRI) is a world leading materials specialist company which develops novel products working in partnership with major commercial companies and government organisations.  We develop products that make a real difference in many market sectors including: Medical and Healthcare, Automotive, Industrial, Cosmetics etc.  Formed in 2005, NIRI has grown rapidly, now has 23 employees and has tripled in turnover. The Role The candidate should be capable of managingmultiple projects, from client introduction to final report handover with an emphasis on providing technical solutions to clients’ requirements across several projects and market sectors resulting in commercially viable innovations. Reporting directly to the Chief Technical Manager and working closely with the BusinessDirector. Main duties and responsibilities You will assist in delivery of the development programme, analysis and interpretation of the results and the development of new ideas based on the outcome of the experimental results. You will assist in the preparation of detailed technical reports for dissemination within project team meetings, contribute to the preparation of written reports and oral presentations. This will require a solid understanding of mathematical and statistical methods used in engineering. The development will require frequent liaison and discussions with technical colleagues and support staff as well as external industrial collaborators in the nonwovens industry. You will participate actively in progress meetings, engage in detailed technical discussions and contribute to planning, decision-making and problem solving as the development progresses. You will plan your own day to day activities within the framework of the agreed programme and under the direction of the Chief Technical Manager and co-ordinate your activities with others in the team. In this role you will: * Undertake and contribute to the delivery of the agreed development programme. 
 * Gather and analyse data and information, interpreting the results for use by self and others. 
 * Engage in complex analyses and interpretation, working with colleagues. 
 * Interpret and regularly communicate technical results and analysis to colleagues. 
 * Participate in discussions and share information, proactively and reactively liaising on a day-to-day basis to generate and adapt information in the technical development programme. * Plan your own day-to-day activities within the framework of the agreed technical programme and under the direction of the Chief Technical Manager and co-ordinate your activities with others in the team. 
 * Provide guidance, as required, to staff and any students who may assist with the development. * Contribute to on-going technical decision-making as part of the work of the R&D team. 

 * Contribute to planning decisions affecting the progress of the R&D projects. 
 * Competently utilise PC-based statistical methods and scientific modelling tools.
