FBK is a private research institution based in Trento (Italy) and operating in different scientific fields and disciplines. http://www.fbk.eu/research-centers. Research Unit focuses its activities on gaining leading knowledge on supporting and rapidly building innovative, standard-based and interoperable IoT-based solutions. The unit’s main competences cover enabling technologies for the IoT and developing cutting-edge tools, infrastructural solutions and related reference architectural models, at the device, edge and cloud levels. Such knowledge is complemented by hands-on competences also in a number of application domains and novel use cases, such as health, smart cities and industrial IoT applications. A Researcher position is available in the OpenIoT Research Unit of CREATE-NET Centre to work mainly on the combination of the following topics: ● Computational intelligence and artificial intelligence ● In-network processing for constrained sensing devices ● Edge/fog computing to be applied in the field of Internet of Things. The target objective is to integrate such technologies into EU-funded innovation project targeting the design and development of a novel software architecture able to integrate the smart objects and devices connected through an Internet of Things paradigm. The successful candidate will be part of a growing team with extensive experience in the research on Internet of Things and cognitive technologies. The successful candidate will join a team of highly skilled researchers and engineers, developing solutions for future Internet of Things platforms and integration of smart devices, their virtualization and data and semantic interoperability. Main tasks: The ideal candidate should demonstrate capability to autonomously outline ideas for future development of research activities in the field above described develop a research, including the capability to identify related specific funding opportunities. The candidate must demonstrate meaningful experience in participation and coordination of research activities in collaborative International/European research projects in fileds related woth the current opening. The candidate must have published its research in international peer-reviewed publication channels (relevant conferences, journals or academic publishers) and will coordinate the production of scientific publications of the Unit. Track records of active participation to editorial boards of scientific conferences or journals related to the IoT and Artificial Intelligence domains will be a plus. Applicants are expected to demonstrate significant IoT technology knowledge and design expertise in software development. The ability to prototype and demonstrate conceptual operations and assess the technical feasibility of the developed solutions is also a requirement. Required: ● At least 8 years of post-doctoral research; ● PhD in the area of Computer Science and Engineering; ● Software Design and Development Experience; ● IoT fast prototyping, DIY and integration capabilities.
