Research Fellow- Evolutionary System Design and Application Advert Department of Electronic Engineering, University of York Research Fellow - Evolutionary System Design and Application Applications are invited for a full-time fixed term contract for a Research Associate in Evolutionary System Design and Application. You will contribute to the research and development of algorithms, tools and software design for implementation in electronic system design. Your main responsibilities will be the development of biologically-inspired algorithms and mechanisms that can be used to design hardware that will improve device, circuit and systems performance. Essential criteria for the position are a PhD (completed or near completion) degree or equivalent experience in Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering and advanced knowledge in the areas of evolutionary algorithms, circuit design and large software systems. Some prior experience in analogue and/or digital design is also essential. The position is funded until 31/07/2021. Summary of thepurpose of the post – The postholder will be expected to contribute to undertaking research, and developing new lines research in collaboration with the Head of Department. It is anticipated that candidates will have a proven international research record within evolutionary computing, specifically using evolutionary algorithms and methods for the optimisation of electronic circuits, and have experience in the development of software and tools to support simulation of electronic circuits. Candidates would also be expected, from time to time, to support the Head of Department in the supervision of PhD students and help with the development of research proposals. Job description Main purpose of the role * To contribute to and/or lead on the production of research outputs and research outcomes. * To participate actively in the planning and management of research projects, including supervising the work of others and providing expert advice and guidance * To work closely with industrial partners (and in particular with the University spin-out company ngenics) in the maintenance and development of software tools for circuit optimisation and design * To assist in the support of other group members (PDRAs, PhD students) working in cognate areas Key responsibilities (Role holders will be required to undertake some or all of the duties below) * To participate actively in the planning and advancement of research programmes, duties to include: the management of small research projects or identified parts of a large project; the management of other research staff, support staff and research students to ensure that the project is successfully completed and that the researchers working on the project are supported in their personal and professional development; the management of research resources, ensuring that effective use is made of them * To contribute to the further research and developments of tools developed in the group, and in ngenics, for use with industrial partners * To contribute to the preparation of research proposals and applications to external bodies * To unde
