Job description/ Project description:
We seek a highly motivated research fellow with appropriate background and experience to take on fundamental research within the project "Governing Principles in Hydration of Mixed Conducting Oxides (GoPHy MiCO)". The project is mainly a systematic study of structural and functional properties of a wide range of oxide materials to establish trends in hydration thermodynamics with respect to chemical properties of the structure, individual elements and local environment. The work will comprise materials synthesis and various characterization techniques, such as thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, x-ray diffraction and electron microscopy. In addition, electrical and electrochemical measurements are planned, including impedance spectroscopy and refined techniques for measuring partial ionic conductivity in materials with high electronic conductivity. The project is an EU collaboration project under the M-ERA.net grant agreement, and national and international collaboration and communication with project partners is thus important.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
The candidate must have a PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in chemistry, preferably with emphasis on inorganic materials and solid-state electrochemistry.
A background in defect chemistry and transport properties is an advantage, as well as experience with materials synthesis, diffraction methods, thermochemical methods, and electron microscopy.
Good command of English, good cooperation and communication skills, independent initiative, and leadership will be all be valued.
The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines.
