Descripción de la oferta de trabajo:
The CoaST Research Centre at DTU Chemical Engineering seeks a qualified candidate for a PhD position. The Research Center CoaST The activities in CoaST cover coating technologies from raw materials, over formulation, test and characterization to production and application. In the broad perspective, the center will support development, production and use of high performance coatings with improved sustainability profiles over the lifetime of the coating. Areas of research are anticorrosive coatings for steel structures, blade coatings for wind turbines, intumescent coatings for passive fire protection, antifouling coatings for ships, insulation coatings for heat loss reduction, coatings for the cement- and mineral industries, and coatings for oil- and gas pipelines at high temperature and high pressure. PhD position Traditionally, coating production has been done batch-wise. However, new in-line dispersion principles have recently been introduced making it possible to transform from batch to semi-continuous mode. The long term aim is to convert to full continuous mode. The dispersion of pigments into the coating binder phase is one of the most critical unit operations in coating production. The purpose of this PhD study is to understand and quantify the details of pigment dispersion in selected process equipment and to exploit the knowledge for use in continuous coatings production. In addition, identifying and verifying in-line quality control methods will be part of the project. We are looking for a highly qualified chemical engineer with an interest in process design, unit operations and production. Qualifications Candidates should have a master's degree in chemical engineering. In addition, the grade average (Danish grading scale, see DTU homepage) of the master degree should be at least eight and preferably higher. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.
