The Darndale Belcamp Integrated Childcare Service Ltd caters for up to 250 children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. Key Duties • Developing and maintaining a nutritious and varied menu for the children, taking into consideration the various age groups and dietary needs • Preparing a nutritious breakfast, lunch and tea for all children in the Centre • Ensuring that all food is served at age-appropriate textures (blended, mashed etc.) • Ensuring that all relevant paperwork is completed, signed off on and correctly filed to ensure the service is fully compliant with HACCP. • Managing the staff team in the kitchen and assisting them in their inductions and in-house training. • Ensuring that the service is kept up to date with any changes to statutory guidelines regarding the preparation and serving of food in an early years setting. • Daily cleaning of the kitchen • Reporting to the Assistant Manager any faults or difficulties encountered with cleaning or in the kitchen area to ensure that these difficulties can be remedied as soon as possible. • Adhering to all the service policies and procedures regarding the welfare and safety of children and the health and safety of staff. • Organising weekly ordering of goods for the kitchen • Maintaining a stock control system. • Operating within a budget • Working as part of a team to support the operation and development of the Centre while ensuring that good working relationships are maintained with colleagues. • Maintaining a high standard of work performance, attendance and punctuality at all times. • Participating in training as required, annual performance reviews and regular support and supervisions. • The duties and responsibilities may be subject to change in line with the needs of the service. Therefore, you must be flexible and willing to change and adapt to new programmes and situations. Skills/Qualities • Experience in preparing food with an emphasis on nutrition, variety and healthy eating (experience in a childcare setting would be a distinct advantage) • A flexible, reliable and willing attitude to work • An efficient, organised approach • An excellent working knowledge of HACCP guidelines (current HACCP certificate is required) • A friendly and approachable manner • Excellent timekeeping and attendance • Commitment to confidentiality
