Position Summary Works with the design engineering group and customers to ensure products meet requirements by providing design guidance and conducting verification, validation and certification tests with minimal supervision. Typical Activities • Performs, coordinates, and supports testing, confidence, and certification (in-house and/or at external laboratories) • Monitors and evaluates product design and performance through software verification and product validation testing • Writes and maintains all compliance documentation, including test plans/reports, materials analysis and similarity assessments • Supports efforts in defining test strategy and tasks, estimating work and monitoring progress • Works with engineering and customers to align design efforts with certification standards and define confidence, verification and validation testing requirements within the scope of product requirements and project schedule • Participates in root cause analysis when product failures occur • Works with customers/EASA/FAA to assess and document product compliance with respect to applicable FAA certification standards and regulations, such as DO-160 Qualification, DO-178 Level A for FAR 23/25 aircraft requirements Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in engineering • English native in speaking and writing • 4 years of related engineering experience, including experience with software and hardware testing • Excellent and concise technical writing and oral communication skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio is a plus • Ability to organize efforts across multiple interfacing groups to complete tasks • Creative, strategic, analytical, and systematic problem-solving skills • Experience with standards and regulatory compliance • Desired: Corporate aviation or avionics development background, ARINC 429 etc. • Desired: Experience in Linux and/or Android based embedded systems • Desired: Experience with EASA Certification Requirements and video and audio formats (Component, Composite, VGA, SDI, HDMI etc.) • Desired: Extensive electronics experience (analog, power, and digital) • Desired: Communication protocols and automation script programs • Desired: Experience in 6S workplace organization Physical, Ergonomic and Environmental Considerations • Primarily works in an office or lab with moderate noise levels • conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time, frequently operating a computer and other office productivity machinery • Frequently moves about to access file cabinets, office machinery etc. • Occasionally works in laboratory environments to test or screen devices
